The AY Society meets every Sabbath afternoon. The programmes are planned and presented by the young people themselves, which is the point of it.
Adventist Youth at Portmore
Adventist Youth meets each Sabbath at 4:00 p.m., after the Bible Class. The Society is run by its own officers, and the afternoon programme is planned, chaired and presented by the young people of the congregation rather than for them.
Through the year the Society organises camps, outings, socials and outreach into the Portmore community, alongside the regular Sabbath afternoon meetings.
Young people who are new to the church, or who have come back after a period away, are welcome without any expectation that they take part before they are ready.
What this department is for
That young people lead rather than attend, and learn to carry a programme from planning to platform.
That no young person in this congregation is on the edge of it.
That the Society is visible in Portmore, not only in the sanctuary.
That the friendships formed here outlast the teenage years.
